Eight Associates is one of the few companies in the UK officially licenced by the BRE to carry out BREEAM assessments on all types of building, whether in the UK or abroad. The Company employs a number of experienced assessors, including architects, economists and environmental scientists enabling us to give expert advice on all the diverse issues assessed within BREEAM. We also provide client and project team guidance throughout the design process to maximise benefit from each assessment, to support a planning application and to attain an optimum rating.

BREEAM is the Building Research Establishment’s (BRE) Environmental Assessment Method; an eco-rating system for buildings used to quantify and simplify a wide array of issues relevant to the sustainability agenda.

When used in the correct way and at the correct time, BREEAM is not a box-ticking exercise but a valuable tool. It can fundamentally benefit the design of a building to ensure that its eco-footprint is minimised, whilst keeping abreast of economic realities.

It also has far-reaching benefits for developers to improve marketing opportunities and financial returns as well as confirming environmental performance to stakeholders such as planning authorities or potential tenants. It is likely to form the basis for future sustainability legislation, in a similar way that EcoHomes has now evolved into the Code for Sustainable Homes.
